Aren’t New Year’s resolutions destined for failure?

That’s a negative attitude to have! But indeed, personally, I’m not a fan of them for many reasons. But some people argue that the time of year is not ideal: spring is better as it is a time of renewal and the longer days stimulate all sorts of positive hormones that give more energy and likely motivation to stick to those resolutions.

But that’s not what a few pieces of research have looked at.

What have they focused on then?

Well, one piece by the University of Michigan Medical School gives a nice summary of type of resolutions and how to make them stick for families - and this also includes a survey of what parent’s own resolutions are.
