Research Hit: Mental Health Training Improves Performance of Managers
A new study of thousands of companies in the UK shows multiple organisational benefits of mental health training for line managers.
Isn’t this obvious, that mental health training should have multiple benefits?
Yes, and no. Some studies, for example, into wellbeing programmes in business have shown limited impacts.
But this was a large scale study and showed multiple benefits.
Tell me more!
Juliet Hassard et al. analysed data from the University of Warwick that has surveyed thousands of companies in the UK. This included data on mental health training for line managers. They accounted for age and company size and multiple other factors to make this data comparable.
And what they found was very clear benefits.
Like what?
Well - wait for it - just about everything.
Here’s a list:
Better business performance
Better customer service
Better staff recruitment
Higher staff retention
Lower levels of long-term sick leave (due to mental health challenges)
That’s pretty impressive!
It is indeed and shows why any business who cares about long-term sustainable performance should take this seriously.
But haven’t you just completed a study into mental wellbeing in the workplace?
Yes, we have, founding members have already had an update and I will communicate the results here shortly.
